THE LAW
Follow it.
GENERAL
#1 | 1.Obey the staff members, we’re here to make it fun and exciting, not to cause trouble. So if you have any concerns please let us know, we don’t bite! 2. So first thing is first, respect each other. Shouldn’t be that hard, I’m sure y’all know how it goes. Follow the Golden Rule and remember that this is all for fun and games, and that everyone here is a horse nut with a passion for writing. Let us unite! 3. Swearing is allowed, but just remember that not everyone has f-bomb shelters so if somebody is uncomfortable please try to respect that. Besides sometimes inventing words is more fun. 4. Anyone can join, but we recommend 17+ because it is a mature site. Yes, that means sex, drugs, violence, swearing, all of that jazz is allowed. 5. Hover images are 250x400, avatars are 150x150. |
CHARACTERS
#2 | 1. Please register a new account for each character you create, and keep the number within reason. You can have as many as you like, but if you start dropping characters one moment and creating another the next we will have to put a limit, so only create what you know you can handle! 2. Canon’s are a first come first serve basis, simple as that. If we feel the need, we might add additional canons as the site goes on. 3. Characters can fit into six member groups: owner, trainer, jockey, vet, stable worker, and breeder. Owners can be loosely described as “civilians” on this site; they do not need to be extremely knowledgeable about horses, but must be involved in the racing world. Owners may create up to 8 horses to start out with. Trainers are not as common - one trainer can work for several owners, and they may create up to 3 horses to start with, but at least one of them must not be a racehorse, as trainers often do not own their own racing stock. Jockeys are going to be the biggest group; some can be just exercise riders, others can only race, some will do both. They are allowed to create only one horse, and it must be a non-racehorse because jockeys are not allowed to own racehorses. Veterinarians can create 1 horse as their busy schedule makes it difficult to own, and they can be on call to any barn or live at a specific stable. Stable workers take care of all the inner workings of the stables, they can be exercise riders, grooms, etc. They can create up to 2 horses, but usually these won't be racehorses. Breeders have all the racing stock, so they can create up to 8 horses like the owners, except they must have extensive knowledge of horses. 4. Please keep characters realistic. You can have a filthy rich person who decided to have a hobby on the side, and feel free to have a rags to riches story, but your characters should vary. If we see too many unusual back-stories we’ll have to put limits on it. Also keep in mind physical aspects of each member group. Trainers are rarely younger than twenty, and there should be no jockeys over 5’6”, more common being in the five foot range, varying by a couple inches at most. Owners must be at least 18 years old. 5. Playbys must be somebody famous. You can use people who are famous in the horse racing world, but only as a playby, please do not try and create a real person, or anyone from a movie. But of course, feel free to manipulate their height if they are a jockey, etc. |

POSTING
#3 | 1. We have a 400 word count minimum. This is a lot of words, but it is an advanced, mature RP. We don’t require daily posting, so if you’re stumped feel free to take your time, this is not a rapid fire site. Also, if you ever are feeling like you can’t make it today, just add a note that the muse was fighting you today, and we’ll probably let it slide. Just don’t make a habit out of it . 2. If somebody writes you a novel, don’t feel like you need to match, but try and give them something to work with. They’ve obviously got the muse coming out of their ears, so feel free to wait longer if you need to get a better running start to climb such a mountain of muse. 3. Everything that can happen in real life is allowed here. However, if there is explicit content, please label it [E] or [M] - this does not include swearing. If there is something that can be potentially triggering, such as rape or abuse PLEASE put a warning on it. And of course, always talk to your rp partner about where their comfort levels are before you write them a [M] post. 4. Please post in past tense third or first person, and refrain from making OOC posts in the IC boards, and vice versa. |
PONIES
#4 | 1. Any breed is allowed here, but only Thoroughbreds are allowed to race. There are no other competitions on this board, so keep that in mind if you’re creating a herd of Arabians; they’ll just sit there and be recreational horses, because horse racing is the only equine sport that takes place in this world. That doesn’t mean your horse can’t go on to be a hunter jumper after they race, but those competitions will not be a part of their record on this site, nor will they be held on this site. 2. Again, please keep it realistic. Thoroughbreds RARELY breech 18.0 hh. The most common height for a thoroughbred is 15.3hh-17.0 hh, with many in the sixteen hand range. The minimum height for a thoroughbred is 14.3hh, but know they could be at a disadvantage due to stride length (and no, not every horse is Seabiscuit). 3. Thoroughbreds come in any solid color, and they can be pintos, but these are quite uncommon, and you have to be able to find a picture. Any modern race horse picture you can conjure is fair game, but please do not create any horses who share names with any well known race horse, living or dead. Try to use stock images, such as deviant art or flickr pictures with creative commons licenses. 4. Other breeds are allowed, but they will generally be companions, hacking horses, and lead ponies. There will be no Quarter Horse racing nor Arabian racing on this site, and only pureblood Thoroughbreds are allowed to race. |
